Superteen Champ!

MRO Superteens

Coming into the start of the season I knew it was going to be a tought battle because I was missing two round due to World Superbike wildcards however I was sure good results could put me in the hunt.

The first round wen to plan with 3 wins and a 2nd which put me in the championship lead and in a good position before missing the next two rounds. When I arrived a Pembrey I had a 185 point defesit to the championship lead and I knew I would have to rack up the win to have any chance of being near the front come the end of the season, Pembrey was probably the best round of the year with pole, 4 wins and 4 fastest laps.

Silverstone was a difficult meeting with changeable weather conditons all weekend I was very pleased to bag 3 wins and a second with my championship rival down the order. The next meeting was a second visit to Brands Hatch where I knew the field was going to be strong, I took all four wins however due to a powervalve issue I was disqualifed from one of the race however I still managed to gain some valuable points on my rival.

After some top speed issues I was nervous arriving at Snetterton a track with the longest straights in the country. However after some changes in practise I was very happy to come away with two 1st's and two 2nd's which put me only 15 points behind the champoinship lead going into the last round.

With the last round being Brands Hatch the track where my rival was stongest I knew it was going to be a challenge. I qualified on pole by a tenth and was confident that I could do the job. I won the first race and was second in the other which put me in the lead of the championship for the final race day of the year. The morning race was the best race of the year a four way battle took place from the first lap to the last, coming out of the last corner I was in the lead however I colllided with another rider on the was to the line ripping off his cluch lever luckily I just held on to the line to take the win with my rival in fourth. Going into the last race I had a 13 point lead and only neede to finish on the podium to take the title. I took and early lead however decided to play it safe a bring it home in third and take the title by 23 points.

It has been a great year and taking the title was a perfect end and gives myself and the team great confidence going into next year.
